HKBCOL 2021 Finals

All Hong Kong Regional Competition and Exhibition

Sponsored by HSBC and hosted by the City University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Blockchain Society, the 2021 Hong Kong Blockchain Olympiad or HKBCOL 2021 is the final destination of a journey of a thousand proverbial miles, as literally thousands of students from Hong Kong's high schools, colleges, and universities learned about blockchain from technological and cryptographic fundamentals to architecture and solution design throughout the Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 Semesters.

After hours of training and events, students were invited to apply their learnings into a cumulative proposal, in the form of papers, posters, and pitch presentations. With 60 submissions split a third from secondary schools and the rest from tertiary institutions, HKBCOL 2021 is the most competitive edition in the history of the initiative in Hong Kong.

Prizes

For each level of competition — the secondary and tertiary tiers — there are four prizes and one categorical prize:
  1. The Gold Medal is awarded to the project with highest overall score;
  2. The Silver Medal is awarded to the project with 2nd highest overall score;
  3. The Bronze Medal is awarded to the project with 3rd highest overall score;
  4. The Best Prototype is awarded to the project with the best demonstration of their project;
  5. The Award of Merit is awarded to all projects with a complete solution design, which would be considered a winner of the HKBCOL 2021 and a potentially winning solution in the real world.

The prize money is sponsored by HSBC.
